It was a real shock for fans of both Mexican Club America and the Paraguay national team when top scorer, Salvador Cabanas, was shot in the head just before dawn in a Mexico City bar on Monday.

It has been a week of uncertainty since the doctors first had to focus on saving his life (which is pretty remarkable considering the fact that he was shot in the head) and then they have had to determine the extent of his injuries.  He has started to move his extremities which is a sign that he has some brain function which is, of course, a major concern.  The swelling in his brain has gone down but there really is no other information regarding his prognosis yet.

My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.  I wish him a speedy recovery.
