The Canadian men’s soccer team will be traveling to Argentina this spring to play a friendly match in the weeks leading up to the World Cup in South Africa.

It’s a big deal since this will mark the first time that the Canadians will face the South American team in an international men’s competition.

Team Canada’s head coach, Stephen Hart, said: "When you’re talking world football, you can’t talk about it without mentioning Argentina.

They are one of the greatest nations in the game. This is a huge game for Canada and its players."

The game will take place on May 24, 2010 at Estadio Monumental on May 24.

In an effort to reach a new collective bargaining agreement, the MLS and the MLS Players Union will continue to negotiate through February 12, 2010 and I’m hoping they can come to some sort of reasonable compromise.

Commissioner Don Garber said: "While we still have areas of disagreement, the talks have been constructive and both parties believe it makes sense to continue to work hard to reach agreement. This extension provides both MLS and the players the opportunity to continue our discussions while clubs are in training camps preparing for the 2010 MLS season."

Players Union Executive Director, Bob Foose, added: "Both the Players Union and MLS have concluded that a new agreement will not be reached by February 1, but we have agreed to continue to talk and we will be meeting over the next two weeks to determine if a new agreement can be reached. In the meantime, MLS Players are reporting to training camp, and preparations for the 2010 season will continue."

It’s not surprising, though, that this is taking some time and effort on both sides. I’m sure the players and the club owners will be glad when this is all resolved.

The Toronto FC of the Major Soccer League has been through some major changes after the end of this season. With a new head coach scheduled for the 2010 season much has been done to shake things up. Today they have announced that they will be replacing their assistant coach as well.

Toronto FC

John Carver will be replaced by Leo Percovich, who acted as a goal-keeper coach for Chivas USA. Carver decided not to renew his contract after getting an offer from Nike to work for them in Beaverton, Oregon. Percovich has worked with Preki before as the two were coaches for Chivas USA. The combination did well before and it is expected to do well for the Toronto FC as well.
