Money woes have forced FC Moscow to pull out of the Russian league since they have been unable to secure sponsorship.  It’s particularly disheartening because there is just a month before the 2010 season begins.

Money woes have forced FC Moscow to pull out of the Russian league since they have been unable to secure sponsorship.  It’s particularly disheartening because there is just a month before the 2010 season begins.

It’s a little surprising to me since FC Moscow is owned by Norilsk Nickel, a metals giant in the country but they claim that the move has a good explanation:  "We cannot persuade the residents of Norilsk why the company’s money should be spent in Moscow.  With no support from (the city of) Moscow or other structures we consider this project a dead end."

This must be a real crushing blow to the club.  They did so well last season, far exceeding expectations.
