So many people argue that violent video games lead people to act violently in real life but what can you say when someone freaks out after playing a game like FIFA 2009?

An Italian man is recovering in hospital after his 16-year-old son stabbed him in the neck with a 15-inch kitchen knife.  The cause of the attack?  Unsolicited advice on how to play the game which resulted in an argument.  The father felt that his son’s behavior warranted turning off the game and that’s when things went to crazy town.

The son went to the kitchen, got a knife and stabbed his dad.  If that isn’t shocking enough, his mom was in the kitchen and he walked right by her, went to the sink, washed the knife and laid it out to dry.  She had no idea what had happened until her husband came stumbling into the room with blood dripping from his neck.

The kid went to his room and willingly went with the police when they came to arrest him.

The ironic thing is that his mother said this: “Mario is obsessed. He’s forever playing on his PlayStation, and we bought him FIFA 2009 because we didn’t want him playing violent games.”

Yeah… that worked.
